The Sinoaid Shanghai Dental Clinic offers a variety of dental services needed to keep your smile healthy and beautiful. These services include but are not limited to:
Preventative and Diagnostic Dental Services
Comprehensive Examination
It is performed on your first visit and includes oral cancer screening, periodontal screening, computerized mouth charting and treatment planning.
Digital X-rays
Digital x-rays require 90% less radiation than conventional radiographs. Therefore a complete set of digital x-rays has the radiation of only 2-3 conventional films. Digital images are instantaneous and are covered by dental insurances as regular x-rays.
Prophylaxis (teeth cleaning)
Cleaning is done using a Cavitron ultrasonic cleaner. It has proven to be an extremely effective tool in removing tartar from both above and below the gum line. Cavitron cleaning is followed by manual instrument cleaning and polishing. If necessary, a Prophy Jet can be used to remove stubborn stains.
Dental Sealants
Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth. But toothbrush bristles cannot always reach all the way into the depressions and grooves of the posterior teeth to clean them thoroughly. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by "sealing out" plaque and food.
Mouthguards (night and athletic)
Have a problem grinding teeth at night, or participate in sports that require mouthguards? We can help you by fabricating custom made nightguard or athletic mouthguard.
Restorative and Prosthetic Dental Services
Tooth-colored fillings
Composite resin fillings, also known as tooth-colored fillings, are strong and durable, and they substantially improve aesthetics of your teeth. Since the filling material actually adheres to tooth structure, the procedure is less invasive and maximum amount of tooth is preserved.
Crowns
Crowns, or caps, are used for both cosmetic and restorative reasons. Placement of a crown may be required on a tooth with a large restoration, a cracked or broken tooth, on a tooth following root canal therapy, or to simply improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth. A crown covers the tooth completely and protects the remaining tooth structure. A crown looks and feels like a natural tooth. Porcelain fused to metal or porcelain fused to gold crowns are both strong and aesthetically appealing. All porcelain (metal free) crowns are also available (see cosmetic services for more details).
Bridges
If you are missing one or more teeth, they can be replaced by a bridge. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth/teeth in between. Bridges can be supported by natural teeth or implants. Bridge fabrication usually takes three appointments. Variety of bridges is available: porcelain fused to gold, porcelain fused to metal, all porcelain, Maryland bonded, cantilever bridges and so on. Consult your doctor about your options.
Partial and Full Dentures
Another option for replacing missing teeth and restoring function and cosmetics are dentures - which are removable prosthetic appliances. Modern dentures are made with new materials and are much better fitted than dentures a decade ago. They can also be custom blended to your gums to look as natural as possible. If you already have a denture, it is important to know that for medical reasons you need to be replacing it every 5-7 years. Your existing dentures can also be relined.
Endodontic Procedures
Root canal therapy
Modern root canal therapy saves many teeth that would have been extracted a decade ago. Having an endodontist (root canal specialist) on premises saves our patients time and reduces anxiety associated with having to be referred to another office.
Post removal
When a post inside the canal needs to be replaced, a root canal specialist can perform this procedure most efficiently.
Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing
This procedure, also known as deep cleaning, is indicated for patients with periodontal disease and is therapeutic in nature. It is designed to remove plaque, calculus, toxins and microorganisms that are below the gum line.
Oral Surgery
Extractions
Most extractions can be performed at our office. Some of the more complicated cases may require referral to an oral surgeon.
Orthodontic Services
Invisalign
Invisalign, also known as invisible braces, can give you the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always dreamed of without braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. The length of treatment depends on the severity of your case and is determined by your doctor, average being about 12 months. Typically, an insurance policy that covers traditional braces will cover Invisalign to the same extent.
Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Tooth Whitening
One Hour in-office Whitening: Safe, comfortable and effective whitening. Rembrandt whitening gel has been clinically proven to whiten teeth an average of 10 shades in one hour. The Oral-B Rembrandt Professional Whitening Gel that is used in our office contains stabilized hydrogen peroxide for maximum whitening ability, a desensitizing agent, and fluoride for maximum patient comfort. We also use Sapphire Light Crystal, a high intensity curing light with arch shaped crystal attached which allows us to whiten upper and lower arches at the same time.
Take home bleaching kit: We offer Opalescence take home bleaching system. It is ADA accepted, syringe delivered tooth whitening system that shows significant whitening within days. Custom bleaching tray is fabricated by your dentist in order to guarantee best results and most comfort. Available only through your dentist and under his supervision, the active ingredient (10% carbamide peroxide) is both safe and effective at removing most stains. Depending on your teeth and type of staining, results will vary. Your dentist can explain the type of results you can expect from the treatment.
All Porcelain Crowns and All Porcelain Bridges
All porcelain or metal-free crowns and bridges are mostly used in the anterior region (front teeth). They are more natural looking than porcelain fused to metal or porcelain fused to gold restorations, but they are also more fragile.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers, also known as ceramic veneers, are a great way to improve your smile in only two visits. Wide range of cosmetic problems can be corrected using veneers: gaps between teeth, stained, chipped, poorly shaped or crooked teeth. Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells fabricated of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of problem teeth. Only minimal preparation of a tooth is needed, and in most cases veneers look more natural than crowns because they are thinner and more translucent. Please, schedule a consultation appointment, and our doctors will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Lumineers™
Lumineers™ offer the painless way to a permanently whiter and perfectly aligned smile. In just 2-3 visits you can have a custom smile that is clinically proven to last over 20 years- and it is completely reversible in most cases because Lumineers require little or no preparation of the tooth (that means no need to drill or anesthetize). Cerinate® has developed the contact-lens-thin porcelain technology that provides beauty and strength, while preserving your natural tooth structure. You can correct a wide variety of unsightly dental distortions or conditions such as: tooth discoloration, noticeable gaps, permanent stains, and broken or misshapen teeth. Lumineers can even bond to existing crowns and bridgework without having to replace them.
Dental Implants
If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants may be another option to restore your occlusion. Unlike dentures, they are permanently anchored into a jawbone. Dental implants do not require cutting of adjacent teeth as in traditional bridgework. They look and feel as natural as your own teeth. Because dental implants integrate into the structure of your bone, they prevent the bone loss and gum recession that often accompany bridgework and dentures. If after discussing your case with your treating dentist it is determined that dental implants are right for you, you will be referred to an oral surgeon for special radiographs and final case analysis.
