Shanghai Blood Center

In 1978, Shanghai Central Blood Bank (SCBB) came into existence, whose previous existence was the blood bank of Shanghai Medicine and Chemistry Investigation Institution, and it was renamed to Shanghai (Red Cross) Blood Center (SBC) in 1984. In the year 1988, SBC was designated by World Health Organization as WHO Collaborating Center (WHOCC) for Blood Transfusion Services. Since 1955, the blood bank has been formally established in Shanghai, after 50 years of construction, the Shanghai Blood Center has developed into the exclusive organization gathering blood collection, component preparation, blood supply, research and education in Shanghai.
