Payment
Shanghai DeltaWest Clinic (SDC) provides convenient payment methods for you, including cash, bank card, credit card and direct billing.
What is Direct Billing?
Direct billing is an efficient means whereby insurance companies will bill you, the patient, at a later date. You do not need to pay for your treatment the day of your clinic visit.
Medical Insurance
Shanghai DeltaWest Clinic has signed various direct billing arrangements with various international and domestic insurance companies. As part of our service in addition to our clinical consultation, we will help answer any questions you may have concerning your payment options. Our goal is to make your entire experience as convenient and pleasant as possible.
Limits on Medical Insurance Coverage
Usually, not all medical treatment elements are covered by your insurance policy or can be reimbursed through our Direct Billing service. You may be required to pay for part of your medical treatment that is not within the coverage of your insurance policy. The uncovered portion varies by different policies and insurance companies. To help you know more about these, please familiarize yourself with these concepts and terms:
Deductible:
In an insurance policy, the deductible is the amount of expenses that must be paid out of your own pocket before the insurer begins to cover any expenses. It is normally quoted as a fixed amount and is a form of additional charge to the policy holder. The amount of a deductible will vary from one policy to the next so be certain that you know about that before you select a health insurance policy. Usually, low insurance premium (policy cost) is associated with high deductable – additional costs you absorb – before policy benefits apply.
Copayment:
The copayment or copay is a payment defined in the insurance policy and paid by the insured person each time a medical service is accessed. It is technically a form of coinsurance, but is defined differently in health insurance where a coinsurance is a percentage payment after the deductible up to a certain limit. It must be paid before any policy benefit is payable by an insurance company.
Exclusion:
Exclusion is a provision within an insurance policy that eliminates coverage for certain acts, properties, types of damage or locations.
