World Mental Health Day 2012

World Mental Health Day raises public awareness about mental health issues. The day promotes open discussion of mental disorders, and investments in prevention, promotion and treatment services. This year the theme for the day is “Depression: A Global Crisis”.
Depression affects more than 350 million people of all ages, in all communities, and is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease. Although there are known effective treatments for depression, access to treatment is a problem in most countries and in some countries fewer than 10% of those who need it receive such treatment.
Health issue: a warning over moon cakes
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the Department of Health and nutritionists are advising people not to consume too many moon cakes, as a single small cake can contain as many calories as a bowl of rice. Eating moon cakes made of glutinous rice flour and filled with bean paste, dried fruit and a wide variety of other foods is a popular way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in Shanghai China. However, eating too many moon cakes can be bad for one’s waistline.
China aborts 13 million babies a year
According to People News Report, China aborts 13 million babies a year with about 50% of woman did abortion more than once. Since most of teenage and young people lack of contraception knowledge, artificial abortion rate increased a lot among teenage and young people group in currently years. On one of the news release conference in this year, China Population Propaganda and Education Center staff told editor that they currently did a research of contraception issues on 1000 women who age is from 20 to 29. The result shows, in group of women who did abortion, there are 65% age from 20 to 29 and unmarried, 50% people unplanned pregnancy happened due to the without using any contraception methods, the repeating abortion rates is high to 50%.
